Acorn Aluminium has added Investors In People (IIP) to its list of accreditations, successfully completing the assessment at its first attempt.
The award represents a significant achievement and recognition of the investment that Acorn is making in its teams but also infrastructure and service offer. Work to achieve IIP accreditation started in June 2023.
Alison Markham, Group HR Director, Acorn Aluminium said IIP status was reflective of a broad assessment, not only Acorn Aluminium’s culture but also organisational governance.
“The assessment is about much more than the people and cultural piece”, she explained. “It looks at your journey as an employer. Where you have been and where you intend to go. Training but also your values, your governance model; your KPIs as a business, your growth; accreditation; innovation; your commitment to sustainable business practice. It’s a comprehensive assessment of your organisation.”
The accreditation was based on a confidential organisational-wide survey; leadership presentations; interviews with employees chosen at random; and documentary evidence from the central HR team against nine separate indicators.
These included leading and inspiring people; living organisational values and behaviours; empowering and involving people; managing performance; recognising and rewarding high performance; structuring work and building capability; delivering continuous improvement; and creating sustainable success.
In their report, Assessors highlighted Acorn Aluminium’s extensive accreditations, underlying organisational stability and commitment to invest and to continuous improvement, which it said contributed to a ‘collective optimism for the company’s future and the commitment of its people to continued success’.
Paul Stevens, Managing Director, Acorn Aluminium said: “We have an exceptionally talented team of people, with a shared commitment to service excellence. Achieving IIP is massive for us as an organisation but also a recognition of the team’s hard work and passion for what they do each and every day.
“We’ll continue to build on that foundation going forward, to make sure that we continue to offer the best commercial window and door and curtain walling solutions to our customers, setting the standard for sub-contractor partnerships in the commercial sector.”
In addition to its IIP success Acorn Aluminium has become one of a group of leading commercial window and door manufacturers to achieve Constructionline’s Gold Standard in January.
This recognises Acorn Aluminium’s commitment to minimise and manage its environmental impact; quality management; commitment to promoting equal opportunities; compliance with the Modern Slavery Act; and anti-bribery and corruption policies.
As a specialist in the design, manufacture and installation of aluminium curtain walling, windows and doors, Acorn Aluminium has a track record of successful project delivery.
Installation teams are also highly accredited including Construction Skills Certification Scheme compliance as well as specialist training to work at height, including IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) training; and PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association).
Acorn Aluminium has also recently completed a rigorous testing and approvals process to be able to offer BS EN 12101-2 accredited NSHEV (Natural Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilators) windows.
