Acorn Aluminium has been selected to deliver the window, door, and curtain walling systems for a landmark high-rise residential development on Tariff Street, Manchester.
The project, a continuation of Acorn’s successful partnership with United Living Group , follows previous collaborations on Saxton House and Points Cross and designed to meet modern standards for energy efficiency and performance, the development will add to Manchester’s growing residential portfolio.
Scheduled to begin in February 2025, the 34-week project will feature Kawneer’s advanced façade systems, including 500 square metres of AA100 curtain walling, 2,000 square metres of AA720 windows, and AA190TB thermally broken door systems. The installation will use a consistent grey finish and partially triple-glazed units on the roadside elevations to optimise acoustic and thermal performance.
Paul Stevens, Managing Director of Acorn Aluminium, commented: “We’re delighted to be continuing our relationship with United Living on another significant project. Tariff Street reflects the growing demand for high-performance residential developments in urban centres, and we are proud to bring our expertise to this venture.
“The Kawneer systems we are deploying deliver excellent thermal and acoustic efficiency, achieving a u-value of 1.1 W/m²K, alongside robust durability and an aesthetically sleek design.”
The project will incorporate triple-glazed units on key elevations to address noise and energy considerations, with double-glazing elsewhere to maintain consistency and cost-effectiveness.
Kawneer’s AA100 curtain walling system is chosen for its flexibility and slim sightlines, while the AA720 windows and AA190TB doors complement the design’s thermal performance and durability.
Acorn Aluminium will fabricate and install the systems over the course of the programme, working closely with United Living and the wider project team to ensure timely delivery. Specific project challenges include precise coordination for the integration of perforated soffit pressings and louvre systems, along with a capped curtain walling approach for clean, contemporary aesthetics.
“We understand the importance of balancing design ambition with operational efficiency,” added Paul. “Our ability to deliver tailored solutions, from design through to installation, ensures we meet the expectations of our clients and contribute to the overall success of their developments.”
