Acorn Aluminium has been appointed to deliver window and curtain walling elements of a high profile build to rent scheme in the centre of Sheffield.
Part of a joint venture between Torsion Group and the HGP, Hollis Croft the £53m residential scheme is set out over seven to 17-storeys, sitting within the City’s Cathedral quarter.
Designed by Den Architects , the development will accommodate 234 one and two-bedroom build to rent apartments.
With completion expected in mid-2026 the scheme will also feature a residents lounge, home cinema, fully equipped gym, co-working areas with meeting rooms and bicycle storage.
Acorn Aluminium has been appointed to deliver the £1.6m curtain walling and glazing element of the build including design, manufacture and installation, plus louvres, manufactured in RAL7015 Slate Grey.
Representing 2,500m2 of glazing windows, and curtain walling will be manufactured in the Kawneer AA100 curtain walling system and the AA720 thermally broken window system.

On site from the start of the new year, the window and curtain walling elements of the scheme are expected to run for 12-months.
Acorn completed the windows, curtain walling and doors, on Torsion Group’s £65million Saxton Lane development in the centre of Leeds in 2023.
Aimed at the private rented sector, the two 18 and 22 storey tower blocks will house 349 contemporary apartments and was designed by Den Architecture.
Hollis Croft builds on Acorn Aluminium’s growing pedigree in the medium-to-high-rise space.
Specifically designed for high-rise residential applications the Kawneer AA720 top hung open out and in some areas tilt-and-turn window which has features of a two-stage opening vent providing natural ventilation under Document F but also full opening for purge ventilation and cleaning.
Offering maximum weather and thermal performance, with u-values as low as 1.0W/m2K, while accommodating sash weights of up to 300kg, the system is also fully suited with Kawneer’s WA100 system.
The leading stick-frame assembly curtain walling system achieves up to Passiv Haus performance with additional weather performance achieved through its sophisticated zone draining system, while accommodating a windload of up to 2400 Pa.
Energy efficient glazing units supplied by Acorn Aluminium to the scheme also feature a heat-soaked inner pane, 16mm argon filled cavity, with 8.8mm clear laminate acoustic outer pane, contributing to an overall u-value of 1.3W/m2K.
